Bambu Villa - Nine miles west of Montego Bay is a large private site overlooking perhaps the most glorious view of sea and sky on Jamaica's renowned north coast. Bambu was designed by architect Robert Hartley in the early 1960s as a unique melding of West Indies architecture and Italian Venetian style. Its Palladian arches, dramatic central pool, Italian sculptures, and breathtaking view make it one of the most photographed homes in this collection. Multiple dining areas take advantage of the spaciousness and vast views of this special property.  Breakfast at the river is a marvelous way to start the day. Lunches on the covered garden terrace overlooking Montego Bay, and dinner in the gazebo feature one of the most beautiful nighttime light shows in the world.

Renovations of interiors and grounds have resulted in an impressive face-lift of this elegant grande dame. Wireless Internet, Apple television, and marble bathrooms complement lovely new interiors.  Today its modern comforts and infrastructure mesh with Bambu’s original Euro charm and glamour.  As designer Charles Faudree wrote when it was featured on the cover of Veranda magazine, Bambu is the “….blending Old World elegance with New World comforts.”  Its newest folly is an open-air garden shower and bathtub outside a small hideaway bedroom downhill from the main house ... with a nine-mile view across Montego Bay.

Notable also are Bambu's sprawling grounds and gardens. Headed by talented Sam, the gardeners have created a lush and lavish tropical paradise, with natural stone pathways that wind through gardens to unexpected terraces for private quiet times.

With handicap access in mind, a separate entrance designed especially for guests in wheelchairs features a ramp to a level entrance to the villa, avoiding all stairs.  The Bambu pool features a broad 4" deep wheelchair platform as well.  This shallow water platform is also a thoughtful, safe pool area for toddlers.

Master Bedroom - 500 sq ft + 130 sq ft Dressing Room and Office
High king size four-poster bed. Two separate Travertine marble his 'n' hers bathrooms feature double shower heads in each. From the bedroom, French doors open to a 26' covered verandah with a breathtaking view of the sea and the distant town of Montego Bay. The Master Suite is quite private from the rest of the villa. Both showers are handicap accessible.

Bedroom 2
High king size bed. Travertine marble en-suite bathroom with double sinks and spacious walk-in shower. French doors open directly onto south poolside terrace. Bedroom 2 can be considered the second Master.

Children's Room
Two (2) sets of small bunk beds. The single door can remain locked to prevent unsupervised access to the pool terrace. A pass-through in the children's bathroom leads to Bedroom 4 next door, creating a connecting parent-child suite.   * Suitable for children up to 12 years old and must be approved by the villa owner / Rental for this bedroom is $30.per child per night,.

Bedroom 3
King size bed. En-suite Travertine marble bathroom connects to Children's Bedroom 3. Opens to the pool terrace.

Bedroom 4
King size Beds. En-suite Travertine marble and has spacious walk-in shower.

Bedroom 5
King size bed. En-suite Travertine marble and has spacious walk-in shower.
 

Please be advised that Bambu is home to three affectionate Mastiff pups. At your preference, they may be allowed to roam the grounds and come in to play with the guests, or be kept in their large open-air kennel. Please let the staff know your preference.

Please note all guests will incur the Temporary Membership Fee of US $32. + 15% tax  per visit per person.
Children between the ages of 13 and 15 years pay a discounted rate of US $16 plus a 15% tax
For children 12 years and younger, the Temporary Membership Dues are complimentary.

Plan to pay this TMD fee at the Front Desk in the Great House when you check in for your visit.

Amenities include the Tryall private beach, non-motorized water sports such as kayaks, paddle boards, snorkeling equipment, hobi cat, and Sunfish if available, tennis, the air-conditioned fitness room, Usain Bolt games room & Internet Room, both located in the Great House, jogging trails, the Hummingbird Kids Club, Great House afternoon tea, the Manager's Cocktail Party and various special events.

*Membership will also include Afternoon Tea - served daily and a weekly manager's cocktail party for all guests. You can also enjoy the large Great House Pool.

The villa was awesome and literally one of the most relaxing vacations ever. Everyone that came was blown away... Peaches and Wayne were awesome. The food was fantastic and I don’t have a bad word I could say. I would definitely consider Bambu again. I am not used to going this scale of rental. However, after doing this, there is no going back on vacation without a set up like this. Thank you so much!
